Today is Tuesday and that means it’s time for my Bargain Bandit episode. Every week, I share information about some of my recent sales, show off some favorite picks, and shout out to fellow you-tubers I enjoy watching. I really enjoying doing these shows and would love to hear what other people think.

As promised in the episode, here’s a bonus item that I recently sold!

Bible 1971 (1) Bible 1971 (2) Bible 1971 (3) Bible 1971 (4) Bible 1971 (5) Bible 1971 (6)

Bibles don’t have to be 60 years old to sell well. This is a Living Bible, Red Letter Edition, Paraphrased that was released in 1983 by Tyndale House Publishers. It contains both the Old and New Testament. Some of the pages have slight creasing to them and the cover has a few marks. There is writing on the inside, in the form of an inscription.

I pick up bibles like this whenever I see them and they always sell. The worst the condition, though, the harder to sell. This one is in fairly good condition, but with the writing on it and the newness of the item, it did take a while to sell. I had it listed for $17.88 and took an offer of $15. I only paid $.50 for this bible. Media mail is super cheap so the shipping on this item is very low (and as a result, fees on shipping are low too, always a good thing.) My total profit on this item after everything was $11.96. Not too shabby!

Belt Buckle

I’ve only ever bought one storage locker and in the locker, there were some interesting items. Most of the stuff I ended up selling at a yard sale (it was a lot of clothes and boots), but there were a few items I did think would be better for eBay. This was one of them and I’ve had it up a few months, but it finally sold, albeit not for much. It was a metal belt buckle with a small Iron Cross on it and shaped like a shooting flame.

We set this item’s cost at $1 (even though we’ve already more than made our money off that storage unit). We sold it for $6.99 plus shipping and our total profit after fees and shipping was $5.21. It was really cheap to ship!

As promised in the episode, here’s a bonus item that I recently sold!

Monopoly Nascar (5)

Normally, I’d suggest selling Monopoly pieces with the game. However, in the case where the Monopoly game has all the pewter pieces, but is missing other parts, the pewter tokens are still worth money! I bought a copy of NASCAR Monopoly for $1 and at first glance, it looked all complete, which I would have been able to sell for about $15-20. However, once I got it home and counted out all the pieces, it was missing some parts. But fear not, I would recoup my money and make a profit by just selling the tokens! Basically, it’s difficult to know if a game is complete like Monopoly at first glance, but as long as you have all the tokens, which you can count easily, it’s a good purchase no matter what.

These pieces had been up a couple of months before they sold. I sold them for $10.99 with free shipping. It’s very cheap to ship these types of things, as they can go in a padded envelope. I only paid $1 for the whole game. My profit on this item after shipping and fees was $6.42. I can also separate out other parts in this game and sell them eventually, although they won’t be worth as much as the tokens.

Disney Hat (1) Disney Hat (2)

Items from Walt Disney World are highly collectible. I found this hat at a yard sale and it still had the tags!  It’s a Graphic Edge Hat that was made for Walt Disney World’s 40th Anniversary. It was in brand new condition and even had the protector still on the inside.

When I bought this, I mainly did so because the person only wanted $1 and it was brand new. I had no idea how much value this hat would have. Some have sold on eBay for upwards of $40, but the average price of these is between $20 and $25 (all price estimates include shipping.) I had this up for a couple of months before it sold. I had it listed for $24.99 with best offer. I received an initial offer for $17 and after a few back and forths, we settled upon $20.49. It only cost a couple of dollars to ship, since it was light enough to go first class. I place all items like this in boxes, because people are expecting to get a product in good condition, and this is the type of object that can get damaged if you put it in an envelope. After the cost of the item, shipping, and eBay and PayPal fees, my profit on this item was $13.48.

Bargain Bandit Tuesday 12/11/12!

Betty Crocker Cookbooks are easy money! You should always be picking up anything that says Betty Crocker on it, if it has any age to it. This one was from 1976 and was a 5-ring binder. It was complete, although a few of the pages had condition issues. It was written on with magic marker and had some other damage to the covers. However, this version of the cookbook, being in the binder, complete, with the pie cover, is a much-sought after version of this book. The hardcovers go for even more!

I purchased this from a big sale that covered the woman’s house, but it wasn’t an estate sale. I didn’t know when I first started looking around in there that she was motivated to sell, or I might have picked up other things she had priced too high. However, she had $1 on this (and I picked up a Starbucks Mug from her too!) so I nabbed this up the minute I saw it. It sold for $19.99 plus shipping. After fees and the cost of the item are removed, I made $15.04. I originally listed it as an auction for $19.99 and it didn’t sell, so I relisted it at fixed price for $19.99 and it sold within one day.

Bargain Bandit Tuesday! 12/4/12

Today is Tuesday and that means it’s time for my Bargain Bandit episode. Every week, I share information about some of my recent sales, show off some favorite picks, and shout out to fellow you-tubers I enjoy watching. Today’s episode is #26 (wow!). Once 2012 is over and 2013 begins, I’ll be starting my numbers over, so January’s first episode will be Year 2, Episode 1. I really enjoying doing these shows and even have a semi-new video editor I’m playing with to see if I like it enough to fork out the money for it. So far, so good.

As promised in the episode, here’s a bonus item that I recently sold!

This is a Harry Potter Scene It? game. Harry Potter is still a very popular franchise and the stuff relating to Harry Potter sells relatively easily. I sold a Harry Potter Clue a while back super quick for pretty decent profit. This Scene It? game I have had a while, probably because the condition is lacking. There’s an awful strip of tape across the front. The interior contents looked really good, though. I don’t recommend picking up Scene It? games under normal circumstances, unless you just want them for your inventory, because they will either be slow or no sales, but Harry Potter (and Friends) are always exceptions to every rule.

I purchased this game in a bundle from a sale with a bunch of other games and managed to get it for $1.75.  It sold for a Fixed Price of $10.99. After deducting my purchase price, and the eBay and PayPal fees, I made $6.10 off of this item.
